At In The Spotlight, we’ve been helping young dancers throughout Fresno and the Central Valley build strong technical foundations since 2006. Our school-age dance program is designed for students who want to grow in confidence, develop performance skills, and discover a lifelong love of dance.

Intro to Ballet

The heart of our ballet program is founded on classical ballet technique and instilling in each dancer a passion for dance. We believe in training our dancers with strong ballet principals in addition to developing in them a love and joy for dance.

At In The Spotlight, ballet training provides the technical foundation for every dancer’s growth. Students develop strength, flexibility, posture, alignment, and musicality through structured barre work, center exercises, and across-the-floor progressions. Jazz Dance Classes for Kids

Jazz classes combine technique, strength, flexibility, and performance energy in a fun and engaging environment. Dancers build skills through turns, leaps, kicks, isolations, and across-the-floor progressions while improving coordination, musicality, and precision. Contemporary Dance Classes

Contemporary dance classes blend elements of ballet, jazz, and modern dance to help students develop fluidity, strength, flexibility, and emotional expression. Dancers explore floor work, improvisation, grounded movement, and technical progressions that encourage creativity and artistic growth. These classes help students strengthen musicality, storytelling, and personal interpretation while continuing to build strong technical foundations.

Hip Hop Dance Classes

Hip-hop classes encourage creativity, confidence, and self-expression in a high-energy, supportive environment. Dancers improve coordination, rhythm, musicality, and performance quality through choreography, freestyle exercises, and foundational hip hop technique. Students also develop body awareness, stage presence, and the confidence to express themselves through movement while building strength and flexibility along the way.

Folklorico Dance Classes

Our Folklorico dance classes for kids introduce students to traditional Mexican dance through intricate footwork (zapateados) and graceful skirt and arm movements. Dancers build strength, rhythm, confidence, and performance quality while learning movement rooted in Mexican culture and tradition. Classes include warm-ups, technique exercises, center work, and across-the-floor combinations that help students develop proper form, stage presence, and a deeper appreciation for the history and artistry of Folklorico dance.

Strength and Stretch Classes

Our strength and stretch classes help dancers improve flexibility, core strength, balance, endurance, mobility, and body awareness in a safe and supportive environment. These classes are designed to support proper alignment, controlled movement, injury prevention, and overall physical conditioning. Through stretching, strengthening, and conditioning exercises, students build the stability and flexibility needed for ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, tap, and other dance styles. This class helps dancers move with greater confidence, control, and readiness for continued dance training.
